As a qualified teacher, you may be looking for a new opportunity to teach in a great school; Thailand has many quality schools looking for exceptional teachers throughout the country. There are many different teaching positions from which you can choose and many levels at which you can teach. If the sound of working and living in Thailand is appealing to you, below are some of the teaching options you have available to you.
Teaching In A Kindergarten
If you prefer teaching younger children, you may wish to look for a suitable position in a kindergarten school, and there are plenty of choices when looking for a teaching job for this age group. The class sizes can vary depending on the school and the location and if it is a private, government, or international school. International schools will often have much smaller classes, while government school class sizes can be more than 30 students or more.
Middle & High School
If you like teaching older children, you may wish to look for a middle or high school position, of which there are plenty available. You can often find that the class sizes are bigger in these schools, so you may want to find a position in an international school, which will usually have better conditions and salary. However, if this age group is not suitable for you, there are other options available.
University Teaching
There are also positions available and universities teaching adult students across the country and various subjects. University teaching can be pretty intense, and it is not suitable for everyone, including experienced teachers. You will want to think long and hard before accepting a position at a university, even if the salary does seem attractive.
Teaching Corporate English
If you do not want to be teaching in a school, you can also consider teaching corporate English at different businesses. The classes are usually a couple of hours long, and the pay is often higher than teaching in a language school. There are various levels of English you can teach in Thailand teaching business people, from beginners to advanced, and it is a much more relaxed environment with many students keen to learn more English language skills.
Teaching At A Language School
If you are only looking for a few hours of teaching a week to keep your hand in, then a position at a language school may be the perfect choice for you. There are plenty of language schools all over the country, so no matter where you are, you should be able to find a suitable position for yourself. Classes are small, and the pay is sometimes on the low side, but you can have a lot of fun in the language schools, making it seem less like a job. You can find a wide variety of different teaching positions throughout Thailand on websites such as Ajarn.com.
